My New Phone - HTC Desire HD

On my last post i talked about getting a new phone and getting rid of my iPhone 3gs.
So i am happy to say that i will be receiving my new HTC Desire HD in 4 days.  I can not put to words how happy i am.  The phone is amazing and best of all...it is not an iPhone.  No more iTunes or having to convert every movie or show in order to watch it on the stupid iPhone.
So lets see exactly what the new HTC Desire HD is:
First the technical aspect:
Wieght - 164 grams (5.78 ounces) with battery
  • Type: Touch screen with pinch-to-zoom capability
  • Size: 4.3 inches
  • Resolution: 480 x 800 WVGA
  • Android™ 2.2 (Froyo) with HTC Sense™ - This makes all the difference
  • Internal phone storage: 1.5 GB - That seems like not a lot but get this... You can add more memory because there is a micro SD slot!!!!!
  • 8 megapixel color camera
  • 3G
  • Bluetooth
  • GPS
  • A long lasting battery.
This phone is amazing.  It has some really cool features.  For example:  If the phone is in your pocket or bag and someone calls then it knows to ring louder.  When the phone is ringing and you pick it up it stops the ringing.  When someone calls and you flip over the phone is automatically puts the phone on vibrate. Check out this link to learn about more features:
HTC Desire HD Features
Because the phone comes with the open source operating system by Google it means that every comapany or person can make unique changes to the OS.
HTC added on top of the OS something called "HTC Sense".  This added layer of software makes the phone run better and provide a better user experience.  When  friend call it can show there Facebook status and other information from facebook before you answer the call so that you can know for example of they have a birthday today.
One of the main diffrences between the HTC and iPhone is the "closed garden" attitude that Apple has.  There is no way to open the iphone in order to add more memory or even replace the battery when it starts to get old (which is does very fast).  The option to take out the battery is very important especially with smart phones because even the best get stuck sometimes.  My iPhone gets stuck a lot and the most logical thing to do is take out the battery in order to restart the system.  There is no way to do that with the iPhone and got stuck many times because of that.
So in the coming blogs i will write about my experiences with the new phone and the main differences between the HTC Desire HD and the iPhone.
