The iPhone FAD - My first iPhone

It all started a few years ago (in 2007) when the first iphone was delivered.
This first version of the iPhone will be later called "iPhone 2G" because of the fact that the next generation of iPhone had 3G connection.
I remember when that first iPhone came out how excited i was.  I remember trying to find a way to get one (they were not selling them in Israel.  I saved up some around 1000 Sehkels and started looking on ebay for used iphones.  I had to buy a used one with some small dents becuase that was all i could afford.

I waited for 3 weeks until the iPhone arrived and it was a great day.  I could not put it down for hours. I sighned up for every forum about iPhones that i could find.  I became an iPhone expert.  I knew what a baseband was.  I knew the differnece between "jailbreak" and "modem un-lock". i knew what "cydia" was and how to download and install games and applications for free.
Since then i have bought around 10 iPhones (mostly for friends and family) and currently have an iPhone 3GS.
But what i have realized in the last couple of weeks is that i dont want to be a part of the iPhone revouloution anymore.  I find myself walking down the street at my work (Comverse) or at the University and all i can see is iPhones.
It makes me sick.  Every 12 yearold girl or every bar manger has an iPhone.  I know that if i go up to one of them and ask them what "Cydia" is they will look at me as if i have just cursed them out.
It upsets me that this once great and exclusive phone has become the new Nokia 5110 (the one where you could change the panels).
There is no challenge in it anymore.  You go to Orange or Cellcom or Pelephone and get an iPhone that you dont even need to jailbreak.
So for this and a few other reasons (iTunes being the major one) i have decide to buy a new smartphone that is not an iPhone.
In the next post of this blog i will update you with the name of the new phone that i have decided to buy.

P.S. - If anyone is interested in buying my iPhone send me an e-mail.
